Was so impressed tossing big baits with my 9'6" heavy rod I put it on my 7'10" Lizard X rod and test drove it on lighter lures, Small rubber, jerk, crank,bucktails and glide baits.
Just received a left hand version XGLH401 for that rod. 80 lb Barbarian gold with 2 oz bait casts a mile on the Lizard X rod. A little heavier than Komodo 300 SS and it improved the balance of that outfit.
KUDOS to Ezoko for getting it shipped same day I ordered it.

Beautiful reel. Fit and finish top drawer. Smooth casting and cranking.
Have used on 10/10 Colorado bladed inline spinner, 5 oz chatter bait, monster Muiras mouse and up to 8 oz rubber baits.
Compared to 471p Okuma Komodo with power handle it is much more refined but am unable to agree with Shimano claim of 30% more power from design. Has lots of power and is very capable of high retrieval speed.
Drag very smooth.
Still tinkering with adjustments but love it so far. Double handle/knobs very comfortable to use. No issue with round design/size of reel compared to the Komodo's low profile.

Is the model number of the 400 right hand you have MD400XG LH B

Yes, the right-hand retrieve model is the 400, and the left-hand retrieve model is the 401.
This is standard throughout Shimano’s reel lineup: left-hand models typically have a “1” as the last digit of the model number.
